Will out perform any 3.5t vehicle on the market today without any ad blue or dpf nonsense to go wrong. Chassis: The chassis is the original Land Rover Heavy Duty 130 chassis, it is in good condition. It has had a new Galvanised rear cross member as, prior to rebuild, previous owner was using without mud guards and the cross member had started to rust. The chassis was treated with rust proofing wax to preserve it at this point. Body: The original bulkhead has been replaced with a brand new galvanised one. The doors were replaced with brand new 2 piece doors with sliding windows, giving the classic look suited to the defender. The roof was replaced with a late td5 roof which is in excellent condition. Engine: The engine chosen for this conversion is a M57tue, regarded as the most reliable diesel engine, not to be confused with the earlier m57 as used in late 90s BMWs and Range Rover L322. This is the later M57 tu (Technische Überarbeitung) technical revision (218ps) which has an iron block stronger than the later engine. This engine was removed from a 2004 BMW X5 with full service history that had covered just 93000miles which is nothing for these engines (All paperwork comes with vehicle). It is a straight 6 with single turbo. A cast iron manifold is fitted for reliability, the turbo has been rebuilt. A custom made 3 inch turbo back exhaust pipe is fitted, along with Allisport oversize intercooler. Gearbox: ZF GS6 X53dz 6 speed manual, regarded as a very strong gear box used by many in high torque race vehicles. I didn’t want to use a Land Rover gearbox as they can barely cope with the power of a Land Rover engine, let alone something with considerably more power, and the key with this build was reliability. A Rally Raid gearbox adapter plate and shaft were used. It has had a very recent new LuK dual mass fly wheel and Sachs Performance clutch with Clutch fix heavy duty friction plate. Transferbox: I had an upgraded LT230 transfer box built, Dave at Ashcroft transmissions machined out the casing to fit larger bearings which cope with the torque. He also fitted ATB and HD intermediate shaft to make it as strong as possible. Axles: Salisbury rear axle upgraded with disc brakes. Rebuilt Front axle including new swivels, CVs, shafts and upgrades callipers and vented discs. Wheels: Genuine Mach 5 rolled lip wheels (not Chinese copies) with 285/75r16 Cooper STT MAXX Suspension: Terrafirma Heavy Duty springs with air assist at the rear, Terrafirma Big Bore Expedition shocks. Gwyn Lewis heavy duty steering arms. 28mm anti roll bar. Poly bushes throughout. Interior: Custom dash which includes side window vents to clear windows (something Land Rover never thought about), Heated front windscreen, Heated mirrors, Kenwood stereo connected to rear view camera, Heated re-trimmed front seats, Large cubby box, Removable Momo steering wheel and lock included, Rear work led lights, Led lights all round. Rear Body: Completely aluminium flat bed (with drop sides)
