Pre Defender - Will be TAX exempt soon We have fitted a BMW m57tu with ZF 6 speed automatic gearbox to make it a more refied experience. This is now a classic that will keep up with modern traffic, and be fun when doing so, with approx 270bhp and 600nm torque. This Land Rover has undergone a full rebuild (A4 80 Stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers used). Specification as follows; Chassis: Galvanised Richards chassis treated with Buzzweld WAR Body: Finished in classic RAF Blue/Grey. All cab panels have been coated in Lizardskin sound proofing and fitted with Wright Off Road Acoustic Mat System. High capacity tub is coated with raptor load liner. Engine: The engine chosen for this conversion is a M57, regarded as one of the most reliable diesel engines. Not to be confused with the earlier M57, as used in late 90s BMWs and Range Rover L322. This is the later M57 tu (Technische Überarbeitung) technical revision (218ps) which has an iron block stronger than later engine. This engine was removed from a 2004 BMW X5 with full service history (All paperwork comes with vehicle) that had covered just over 100k miles which is nothing for these engines. It is a straight 6 with single turbo. A cast iron manifold is fitted for reliability. The turbo has been upgraded to a Venom hybrid with billet compressor wheel. A custom made 3 inch turbo back exhaust pipe is fitted, along with allisport oversize intercooler. Gearbox: ZF 6HP with larger oil cooler Transferbox: LT230 1.2 ratio. Gwyn Lewis heavy duty custom prop shafts. Axles: Salisbury rear axle upgraded with disc brakes. Rebuilt Front axle including new swivels, CVs, shafts and upgrades callipers and vented discs. Wheels: Genuine Mach 5 rolled lip wheels powder coated Ferric Grey (A genuine BMW wheel colour) with 285/75r16 Toyo Open Country tyres Suspension: New genuine Land Rover springs, Fox shocks all round. Gwyn Lewis heavy duty steering arms. 28mm anti roll bar. Super Pro Polyurethane bushes throughout. Interior: Electric windows, Heated windscreen, Heated mirrors, Heated leather seats, bespoke walnut dash and centre console. Lights: Subtle LED Lights fitted all round
